Watching The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean. It's an absurdist Western directed by John Huston, written by John Milius and starring Paul Newman.

It's been a pretty wild ride so far, really crazy. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Honestly, if this movie is just 2 hours of Gene Hackman getting annoyed with French people I'll be a happy camper

Perfect Days (Wim Wenders, 2023) is a truly beautiful, lovely movie. a la Paterson. Go find it, go see it, I loved it

The social satire moments can feel a bit like an extended Key & Peele sketch but the heart of the movie is really good

And I loved the score

Enjoyable movie. Can’t measure up to the original, but still a lot of fun.

Agreed. My only real complaint is that the middle section dragged with all the heroin stuff.

Last night I watched a post apocalyptic b-movie called Steel Dawn. It was a perfectly fine movie with Patrick Swayze and Brion James.

Afterwards I read a few reviews and a lot of them said it was a rip-off of Shane, which strangely enough was the other movie I thought about watching last night (and am just firing up tonight)

finally watched The Zone of Interest

a bit over-long, but wonderfully crafted and quietly terrifying

The Turin Horse. Checks a lot of my boxes. Desolate apocalyptic setting, haunting score, Nietzsche, beautiful shots.

Re-watched Dune 1 in preparation for Dune 2 on Wednesday.
