No idea on when first single will be released, but assuming it will coincide with album announcement/tour dates, then anywhere from mid January to early February would make sense for a May album release. But who knows? I'm just happy they are still making music and playing live. Getting 2-3 good songs out of Buffalo Asylum or whatever it will be called is just frosting on the gravy.
What I don’t understand is the apparent need to have a 6/8 month runway for an album release. These guys have been chatting about it since late summer, and Ed made mention unprovoked. So…if it’s “in the can”, what are we waiting for? This whole idea of timing it with a tour is so antiquated; as if their ticket sales depend on good reception of the record. There is zero correlation. We know from 22 and 23 the shows will have no problem completely selling out, and even if the new music falls flat, the same cadre will show up at the venues. If the album is ready, release a strong track, do about 1-2 months of hype, and have a March release. Why are they standing on ceremony and being so performative with it all? It’s slightly pathetic. Maybe they’ll surprise me and we get an album Thurs at midnight?
Jeff Ament quote from June 2023
"“When we complete the new album, it will be about six or seven months before it can come out” Ament reported, adding that it will not be released until the summer or fall of 2024.

Haha! They’ll do the whole tour then release the album.

Sources say it could happen.
They played a bunch of shows in 09 before Backspacer was released.

you can't just make that plastic stuff overnight. it takes time. lead time
you need to invade a country under false pretenses, gain access to their crude oil, build a pipeline using a no-bid contract process to get it out to a seaport, transport it to china, arrange for a group of child laborers to take it off of the docks and into the factory, and then have it pressed into dog collars, keychains, and basketball paraphernalia
what about this do you not understand?
why can't they see?

I mean that’s not exactly how he put it. Heavy paraphrasing there. Just watched the Kyle Meredith interview the other day and to me, Jeff seemed more unaware of the record’s status vs suggesting that it would be summer of ‘24.

Releasing a few months before the tour seems more sensible.

This is some weird-ass kind of fandom right here. It always makes me feel strange how so many at this forum seem to love making fun of this band. Good judgment is a good thing to have. This kind of judgment is just kind of pathetic, in my view. But to each their own.
Wow

Within a couple of weeks, perhaps as early as next week, the first single from Pearl Jam’s new still untitled studio album will be released.
The first single, called Wrecker, will include two songs, both featured in the tracklist of the new album. The first track is described a “straight ahead rocker”, while the second song, titled Dark Matter, is an acoustic ballad.
The band’s new record, their twelfth, produced by Andrew Watt, is rumored be released in the first half of this year.

Is this what they did for Avocado? I can't remember if Unemployable was released with WWS or not.

If you asked AI to create the title of a new Pearl Jam song, Wrecker would be a good choice.
