Watched Along Came Polly for PSH's performance, which I enjoyed quite a bit, but this movie is crap

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
Also very relevant today, but Shia is totally miscasted here. Ryan Gosling would have been so good. Douglas is awesome. Kinda funny there are a few actors from the first one as well.

How was it? Kinda interested but nostalgia for the show tamps that down.

It was cute. It gets a little too ridiculous at the end, but I enjoyed it. It feels like a throwback, but at the same time doesn't stick to the same old romcom formula.

I meant that it was agenda driven, millennial trash.

That Subway sandwich rewired Burt's brain. Amazing.

He realized that all their meat is just different colored turkey and it unlocked his mind.

I feel I should defend my decision to eat at Subway yesterday: it's the closest food place to my apartment besides a poke bowl place, which as far as I can tell, consists of assorted grasses and raw fish in a bowl. I can't seriously be expected to eat that.

Just catching up, here's the last week of movies -
Barry Lyndon (1975) - just fantastic. I wasn't expecting Barry to be such a shit heel, or for the movie to be so funny. Beautifully shot. My favorite character was Quinn
Wild Things (1998) - I saw this movie quite a few times as a teenager, but only remembered a few scenes. It was a lot better than I expected. A really trashy good time.
Cape Fear (1991) - I watched and enjoyed the original a few weeks ago. This one was better, mostly for the slightly more fleshed out the story.
From Here to Eternity (1953) - Loved this. I wasn't aware that Sinatra won an Oscar for this when I watched it and was surprised by his performance. Burt Lancaster and Montgomery, Clift were great as well.
The Killing (1956)- I've watched quite a few noir movies lately and this might have been my favorite. A tight story, interesting structure and a great ending.
Atlantic City (1980) - this was a strange movie. I enjoyed it a lot. Burt Lancaster did a great job playing a washed up loser, while still maintaining his dignity.
3 Days of the Condor (1976) - just a fantastic paranoid 70s thriller. One of my favorite genres. It's hard to believe how handsome Robert Redford is.

I loved Barry Lyndon. Had no clue what to expect going in.

I started to watch Condor a few months ago but didn't pull the trigger. I'll put it back on my list that I don't really have because of Tom.

Try the poke. Guarantee it's better than Subway

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

How am I preventing you from having a list? Are you afraid Alex will make fun of you?

I did try it. It was not pleasant. Texture nightmare. Maybe I'll just get a salad next time.
But Subway has some good cookies though.

I really loved Barry Lyndon as well and was also surprised by it. I always unfairly assumed it was a boring period piece, and that it might be a bit of a chore to sit though. But it was quite the opposite. I should have known better. I'll never doubt Mr. Kubrick again.

You made it sound like you hadn't tried it before. I don't appreciate this ruse
