According to estimates from effective altruism organizations like GiveWell, you could save roughly 1,000 to 2,500 lives with $5 million, by funding the most cost-effective interventions such as:

Malaria prevention (e.g. mosquito nets)

Basic maternal & child healthcare

Access to clean water (wells, purification)
