Unsurprising!

Did those silver-spoon-suckers also talk about donating it to saving the lives of others? Very important.

In fact, never mind. If they did, they were lying. Untrustworthy, maid-having tribe.

Randomly taking a life so some other people have it a bit better is not what for the greater good means, mate.

Sure it does. I'm not talking about giving kids school lunches (which would be cool). I'm not talking about a brief tax break for those struggling (also cool). I'm talking about SAVING LIVES!

Still waiting on a non-imbecile. You guys are all imbeciles.

It's one thing to sacrifice your own life in exchange for 5 million dollars to be donated to... helping... save people's lives in some cryptic, mysterious way

But that's not the scenario. It’s not my life on the line, it’s someone else’s. And I don’t have the right to "sacrifice" another person for my gain (or even for the above vaguely defined greater good). That’s the sticking point.

Framed honestly, this is killing someone for money, obscured through enough abstraction to let you pretend otherwise. It's the same way war profiteers and the most evil people in the world are able to sleep soundly at night

Yeah man, I'm a profiteering warmonger.

Definitely an idiot.

Definitely had maids.

Definitely SMD.

Do you want to live in a society where people are mere means to an end? I doubt it’s how you’d want to be though of.

That wasn't really the point I was trying to make but yes I happen to believe you've been personally involved in starting multiple wars across the globe

A doctor should kill and harvest the organs of a healthy person to save many who need organ transplants to live. For the greater good.

Who cares about how you're thought of? This is a thought experiment for the memes.

You all think that one life is worth more than many others, is all I'm getting from this. To each their own.

I think you're the shitty people here.

Gotta put down DONOR on your driver's license. Always.

Also, this was a super disingenuous way to engage this argument. You know damn well what the methods are. But you're a fart-sniffing, champagne socialist, virtue-signalling douche canoe at the end of the day, so it makes sense.

According to estimates from effective altruism organizations like GiveWell, you could save roughly 1,000 to 2,500 lives with $5 million, by funding the most cost-effective interventions such as:

Malaria prevention (e.g. mosquito nets)

Basic maternal & child healthcare

Access to clean water (wells, purification)

Very well, but the point of my argument is that I don't have the right to take another's life in this scenario, regardless of what I'd do with the money. That part was just poking fun at how vague you were being.

I was vague because it goes without saying. Who actually needed that explained?
