Googling and presenting a single low context link implying it’s evidence of an unacknowledged pattern is basically the anti-vaxxer thought process. Police interactions are not controlled experiments that can be cleanly evaluated against each other, even in aggregate (an important reason why body cams are so important in keeping the cops honest).

And look, Mcphisto is a troll, but it’s not a privilege flex to point out that consciously choosing to not do things that draw police attention is a good way to not draw police attention.

Do you not think it's an issue that you would rightly have some level of concern if you did happen to have police interaction for whatever reason though?

It sounds as though there is a fear of your police in the US. And not just by "the bad guys". Crazy.

First, two things to remember about the US:

1.) Fear of law enforcement is entirely rational for demographic groups like black Americans who in the lifetimes of millions of living members of that community were legally terrorized by the police.

2.) It's a demonstrable fact that black Americans in particular were intentionally prevented from establishing generational wealth which has contributed to higher poverty (and in turn lower achievement levels) for decades.

IMwO (In My white Opinion for the acronym police) though, MacPhisto was poking at the legitimate question of where that cycle is today... are police criminalizing black communities with heavier presence there or are police being present where the crime is being disproportionatly committed? Somewhere in the middle probably, but that is not the messaging for either side and for Mac to imply it's largely behavioral/cultural or B to imply it's largely race really misses the bigger picture.

Twenty-three-year-old Cory Zobel, of Salem, is accused of shutting and locking a cell door behind a female jailer who was delivering property to another inmate.

According to court documents, Zobel told an officer he did it because he thought it was funny.

If there is a rapid swing in how police are covered because the correct guy is POTUS, that's an issue. I made pretty clear that my concern was speculative, dependent on additional editorial choices to follow this story up with like.
