I was so excited about this movie until I saw the full trailer and saw that Nic Cage was in it. I lost all interest after that.Farmer John wrote:Too scary?BurtReynolds wrote:Longlegs

Apparently, so does everyone. Which is why we get so many of them. And then someone posts them here.Farmer John wrote:I am. It wasn't scary at all. It was tedious and pretentious, with no point at all. The worst kind of modern horror flick.Farmer John wrote:Too scary?BurtReynolds wrote:Longlegs

Cage is barely in it.

Re: What movies are you watching?
I agree that that it's boring and pretentious. I'd say Nic Cage has a bit more screen time in this than Kevin Spacey had in Seven, and he spends it just acting as creepy as he can. The only disturbing elements came from sound design and editing, doing a quick cut to a jarring image and going from quiet to the standard issue super loud "eeeeeee!" scratchy string music at the same time. Old tricks. It's kind of amazing that they took that premise and made a movie that is no more disturbing than an X Files episode. You'll probably find yourself suspecting the "shocking" explanation not even halfway through, and when it comes it's delivered in a clunky expository monologue. It just feels like a Law and Order: SVU viewer's idea of a disturbing serial killer movie.

Well, this is disappointing to hear.
What's next? You're going to tell me his legs weren't even that long? Just regular length?!

Thief
A few too many silly slo-mo deaths for my liking, but otherwise a pretty good movie.
Robert Prosky was great. The Willie Nelson scenes were kind of strange.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yes. Michael Mann sure has a knack for great diner scenes.tragabigzanda wrote:The diner scene is great.Farmer John wrote:Thief

I'm watching The Insider tonight, so fingers crossed there's a diner scene in that one as well (don't spoil it for me!)
