Believe it or not I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a socialist. I’m a leftist. I’m anti-ruling class.

I'm from a country that was torn to shit by a violent socialist insurgency which led to decades of war, death, and rape. I have friends and family members from neighboring countries who have been personally and directly affected by deeply corrupt socialist regimes, even driven out of their homes for being labeled political opponents. I think there are many socialist policies that are common sense and would help the populace as a whole, but I don't think socialism is beyond reproach (I've openly criticized Latin American socialism here many times). When the argument that the "Nazis were socialists" comes up, it's almost always a disingenuous bad-faith response to progressive, pro-worker policies that would materially improve many people's lives, and I feel compelled to speak up. But I don't think I would call myself a socialist either, not on those broad terms. And I also don't think a Bernie Sanders win would result in the US becoming a socialist country

Biden is a center/center-right moderate who will likely get his ass kicked by Trump; but the things he doesn't care about, Trump cares about even less. This is not about personality. Out of the two, he's easily the clear option. But it's very disappointing that it worked out that way, and I completely understand why people like LV feel disenfranchised and frustrated with this outcome.

correct: Bernie is not actually a socialist. he would get reined in by the moderate dems in the senate if elected and make tradeoff and ultimately move the needle left but still very much in the capitalist context

as far as Biden’s VP / Warren-

i think the numbers showed that Warren’s appeal nationally was actually very little

and now she’s got some baggage and may be viewed as damaged goods at this point by many on the left (bc she didnt endorse Bernie)

i think if Biden wants a progressive-appealing VP then he can find a less divisive one elsewhere
