Good, but not worth stashing at DH so he can be a defensive liability 2 years from now.

Who knows how he will age? Could always trade Beltre as well or DH Beltre in 2016.

McCarthy was garbage when he was with the Rangers. He has since learned how to pitch/keep the ball down. He is a good fit in the NL. Maybe Cubs or Cards or Giants.

If the top 3 all sign and one of the expected big spenders on pitching(Bos, Chc, NYY, etc)is left without anyone, I could easily see McCarthy getting 4 or even 5 years.

If he gets a 4 or 5 year deal it's going to be full of injury related incentives and out clauses, ala John Lackey pitching for peanuts next year.

I think his pop would translate a little better in Texas. As would a guy like Gattis who sounds like will get dealt.
