We used to live where this was shot — one scene is actually where I proposed to my wife — and the whole movie brought up a lot of sense memories for me.
Trailer looks awful how is the movie
I’d say it’s a great movie for a very niche audience: New England-born adults who were raised in the 80s will recognize a lot from the era, and from the sort of boundary-less parenting style that was commonplace at the time. It’s made me think about a lot of stuff.

But outside of that niche, I can’t imagine people would find it very interesting. The casting is good. The plot is fairly non-existent, it’s more like a series of vignettes, with each section bookended by a title card that reflect the name of whichever person came into the mother’s sphere at a particular point in time. So like “Avi,” then you see how this guy Avi comes into the fold, how the mother kind of amends herself to his personality, how the daughter goes along for the ride, and then how/why Avi exits.

There’s a finale of sorts, it kind of ties a bow around the concept of boundary less parenting, but it’s not what I’d call definitive.

I’d say Boyhood and the films of Katie Reichert are big influences, but it’s definitely not as good as either of those.
Ah yes, very similar to Borderlands.

This was bad, though not the worst I've ever seen. A movie for little kids, but violence for teens, cringy humor for no one. Bizarrely, it stars a lot of older women and Kevin Hart. Written by corporate drones.

Cate Blanchett seems to be playing a character in her twenties or teens. I have no idea why she is in this.

There was some weird magic near the end but I left before the big climax, so maybe it was explained. But I'm pretty sure the story was just nonsense.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Still holds up!

I never realized until now what a blatant Jim Carrey impression the neighbour dad was doing.

I could go tonight after dinner, but that's my last chance. I missed it last weekend, sadly

trailer is misleading tbh.. its way more personal and almost heros journey/ team up than that. But the troubles in NI shaped all of us too and those lads especially so maybe its fair

Speed is a nearly perfect action movie, isn't it? I hadn't watched it since I was a kid and kind of wrote it off as 90s shlock but I just gave it a watch and was thoroughly impressed by about 80% of it. The fight atop the subway train is the only part where the filmmaking really lets it down. Everything else is so well executed even when it's being extremely stupid

That film is gold.
