I'm not into action movies but Speed is one of the rare exceptions

No, I wrote it off as 90s schlock as a grownup based on my recollection of watching it as a kid

I only saw it when it came out, but I remember it feeling pretty formulaic even back then.

Was Demolition Man before or after? I remember thinking Sandra Bullock was gonna be a huge star after those two movies.

The whole high-octane-but-contained action thrill ride thing was well established before Speed in movies like Die Hard, Runaway Train, and the like. These are also similarly structured
