Watched The River Wild with wife, then we saw there was a remake called River Wild came out last year and thought we'd give it a try. It wasn't really a remake as the story was very different, but it was the same basic premise, getting held hostage on a river with strong rapids by a desperate psychopath. The characters were all completely different. We both enjoyed both of the movies quite a bit. I was surprised.

I havent seen them, but i wanna see the original since i was a kid and bombed at the box office.

The original is pretty good, though no Deliverance.

I haven't seen deliverance in a long time, but i remember it had some wonky moments.. this one is more consistently good, i think.. streep and bacon are the breakfast as advertised

Deliverance is amazing. Easily the better film.

I did watch The River Wild in the cinema though, and it holds a special place in my heart.

Watching The Fallout. Jenna Ortega in a movie about the emotional fallout after a school shooting. Maybe that doesn’t sound interesting, but it feels very real. Made me think of the Roskilde tragedy that I was a part of, and how it affected me in the following months.

Yes. I was nearly at the front, and was really lucky that I worked my way backwards (maybe 10-15m in half an hour) after the pressure became intense. Tragic what happened.

In 2007, I saw Pearl Jam again, on their return to Denmark (Copenhagen).

I also returned to Roskilde that year.

I went on both trips alone.

Unrelated to this, my first marriage broke up that year, before these trips.

I haven’t gone to a festival like that since, but really, by then I had moved on.

Pig was great. Wonderful performance by Cage. Much more subtle and unique than I would have guessed it would be.

Also watched Belfast. The movie is like a love letter to growing up there. Very melancholic. A brilliant story as well, about diificult times for a family, and that place in time (the 60s).

Not my favorite this week, but well worth watching.

The buzz around this really made it seem like it was going to be John Wick but with a pig. I'm glad it's not. Great movie!

it's obviously a very personal film to him, but my god is it a world away from the reality of Belfast at the time. Film was described as a complete fantasy (to put it mildly) by most belferstians when it came out.

Watched a bunch of incredible shit over the last few days.

The Bikeriders

Basically Sons of Anarchy in a far more interesting time/setting and with far better acting. I liked that they emphasised the origins of such clubs being little more than outcasts who just really loved motorcycles. A far cry from what followed. Comer's accent is ridiculous in the best possible way -- I mean she really went all in. Hardy is always good, and Butler will be one to watch for many years to come. (Michael Shannon was underutilized, but he nailed his part. What can ya do?)

Jaws

First time seeing this one (I know, I know). I was familiar with many of the suspenseful scenes already, but the way the story developed was new to me. The pressure from the mayor, Brody's guilt after letting the beach closure slide etc. Superb pacing and suspense. And Quint + Hooper are such brilliant characters! I can see why many consider it a masterpiece.

The Green Knight

This movie is weird as hell, but it kinda rules. I was all in for the first ~2/3rds but it lost me a little towards the end, only to redeem itself in the final act. Visually it absolutely rips, and the score is top notch. I'm not sure that I can recommend it, but I'm glad that it exists.

Also, seems Bikeriders is pretty good..i hated the trailer but seems the movie is pretty cool

I loved The Green Knight the first time I saw it, but after reading up and watching videos on the original story and the meaning behind things, and then watching it again, I now consider it to be a borderline masterpiece. You gotta put in the work though!
