I need to rewatch this series from the start.

I finally decided to give this show a go after my best friend and his wife harassed me for so long.

Dammit, I actually like the damn show. Just finished season 1 this morning.

Gendry was freed by Davos from Dragonstone on a rowboat and hasn't been seen since. That was in season 3 I think. Should still be alive.

Bastards have no claim to the throne unless they're legitimized. Cersei has no hereditary claim to the throne. Basically, they're in the same boat (hardy har har).

Rewatched the finale last night and I was more thrilled by the beginning and less thrilled by the ending. Lady Mormont's pep rally speech came off a bit silly upon a second watching and it really justifies the writers aging the main characters for the show.

I'm more into Lyanna Mormont as a plot device than an actual character--she reminds us that the War of the Five Kings had actual consequences (whole generations wiped out, people thrust into leadership positions) and that the North fucking lost. Her first scene was good, but her mean mugging during the parlay before the battle and her inspirational words for Jon seem a little far-fetched; it's almost like she was a character crafted for Tumblr fandom.

I don't have a problem with her mugging. Its reasonable for a young girl in her situation to default to a cartoonish persona like that, especially if its working for her. Plus, she's just awesome at it.

The King of the North scene wasn't great, and her speech was silly, but rewatching it, i think a lot of them had already made up their minds about supporting him anyway. She was just the first to speak up and the others rallied around her.

Oh yeah, most of the storyline with Arya and the many-faced god was repetitive filler. Big fail. The show could have used that story to explore some weird philosophy more deeply.
