I am thinking that there is more to Ben Solo than we think, and it's even possible he put her on that planet.
Is he that much older than her?

Ten or so years. It's not specified.
Interesting. I had considered them approximately the same age.

Spoiler: show
I think the one rumor that makes the most sense for Rey and fits comfortably into the overall story centers around Luke handing off his lightsaber to Rey's mom/dad at his academy instead of Kylo. The action enrages Kylo and he kills everyone at the Jedi Academy and burns it down. Someone, maybe Luke, probably Luke, takes Rey off to a fringe planet to save her.

I like the idea of Luke looking to find someone to pass his lightsaber to as a way of nominating another person to take over his academy and continue training new Jedi and uphold all of the teachings and what not. Also I like the idea that Luke knew Kylo was troubled and that he wasn't tied to handing off his heirloom to someone that was blood related.

I like this theory too, but Rey was super young at the time. Would he hand off the lightsaber to her?

I really like the theory that what's his name looks like an old Ezra and could end up being Rey's father. I can't tell you how awesome that would be...

Luke doesn't hand it to Rey but gives it to one of Rey's parents. Kylo finds out he didn't get the saber and he kills Rey's parents as well as everyone at the Jedi Academy.

Somehow the saber finds its way to Maz for safe keeping. This could explain why Maz said the saber calls to Rey. It's not a skywalker saber now but part of Rey and her bloodline or some shit.

For sure. I just wanted to give a brief synopsis and touch on some of the most central elements to this possibility.

The BFI released a video discussing its trainee program from The Last Jedi and Young Han Solo, where they also showed two new shots from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The new shots are of Rey on Ach-To, and Captain Phasma. We are very close to getting another glimpse of The Last Jedi as D23 and SDCC are just around the corner!
