That definitely sounded like PJ. Why do they do this shit? Last time with the Simmons podcast. Just put the damn song out.

I don't know who that could be if not PJ. Bass and guitar were spot-on and the melody sounded like something in the back half of a PJ song. I'm stoked. My ten year-old ran over and said "sounds GOOD!" He has excellent taste (prefers dark old metal).

It's like McCready forgot how to play with any taste around 20 years ago, it's 'all bonehead, all the time' now.

Those big dumb 'Got Some'-style leads are his default now and I can't think of anything like that on the records from their first decade.

Snarkiness aside, what do you make of the solo in Take The Long Way? To me that's face-exploding badassery. If that's tasteless boneheadedness to you, cool cool.

I like that song a lot and the solo is fine. It doesn't set my world alight but it's certainly not objectionable (though I could do without the ever-present wah).

This was a little harsh, because I think Mike did some good work on the S/T album. Those interlocking guitars on Unemployable and Comatose are the kind of thing I'd really like to see him and Stone do more of.

But hamfisted East Bay Ray pastiche over thumpy dad-punk isn't inspiring any optimism for the new record.
