Can you imagine what a hard sell a moon sized space station must be for any military budgeting committee, by this point in the story?

Speculation from 'round the web (and some of my own), based on the poster and rumors:
Spoiler: show
-Luke isn't pictured because he's now deformed/masked like Vader, or he's barely in the film at all
-Van Sydow doesn't appear here (but gets billing) or elsewhere because he's a returning character--probably Boba Fett; Andy Serkis less likely to be returning character, but maybe playing a smaller role like Luke
-That little alien next to R2 is Maz Kanata, a CGI character voiced by Lupita Nyong'o
-The base in the upper-right is called Starkiller Base, apparently; it's already got a description on StarWars.com: "An ice planet converted into a stronghold of the First Order and armed with a fiercely destructive new weapon capable of destroying entire star systems." http://www.starwars.com/databank/starkiller-base

They're doing midnight screenings here on the 16th Dec but I went for the following afternoon early in the day. In the hopes the theatre will be fairly empty. Looks good so far

Considering that it's coming out on a Friday, I'll probably try for an AM showing that day. Kids will probably still be in school, hopefully there won't be as many fellow nerds out, etc. Trying to go Saturday or Sunday would be crazy. This will probably be the first time ever that I go to a movie alone, as my wife has given me a one-day pass for her to watch the baby. Should be fun!

I'm really excited for this. I can't remember the last movie I really wanted to see. Fellowship Of The Ring? Probably.
