Painted the kitchen and hall cabinets, as well as got rid of the hideous 80's fluorescent light box in the kitchen and replaced it with some LED can lights. Of course the new cans have a white facade, while the other 17 can lights throughout the house where incandescent bulbs and had almond facades. So after swapping those out my costs shot up about $250. Here's to hoping these LEDs last as long as they claim and save as much in energy to make up the expense...in like 8 yrs

Ran the dishwasher tonight and water everywhere. I learned about vent pipes and had to cut a huge piece of drywall out on our counter. Then, I came up with the idea to use the shop vac to blow into the vent pipe and get rid of the clog. Have some drywall to fix but didn't have to call the plumber.
It's always fucking something I swear.

Yeah, even though they were two separate issues, I guess that bit me in the ass, huh.

Hot water heater burst today. I don't have a floor drain in my basement. The valve on the intake pipe is bad too. I have the water off to the entire house.

ha. we have a make-shift kitchen set up in the basement. basically we have everything with the exception of the dishwasher. lots of paper plates and plastic utensils. we're killing the environment one meal at a time.

no shit. this thing started out as a small-scale kitchen re-do so we could basically put the house on the market next spring if we wanted. it's now turned into a huge remodel with sub-zero and wolf appliances, a master-bathroom remodel, staining the floors, knocking a wall down between our family and living rooms, and completely redoing our fireplace. mutha.

sounds fun..our master bath renovation was quoted at 8k and turned out to be about 13k...and this was all done from a friend of mine who is a general contractor.
