Things can change but going into year 3, it’s looking more and more likely that Lynch and Shanahan traded away 3 first round picks for a third string QB.

Purdy the 49er's starter, Darnold the backup. Trey Lance either 3rd string or will be traded. Any other team, and a deal that failed like the Lance deal would result in the firing of the GM and coach.

You don't take a developmental project with the 3rd overall pick that cost you three first rounders.
