I have three Stevie tunes on deck. Hoping at least one makes it back to me. One of them just might be Livin' for the City.

I'm holding out (slim) hope that Stevie can eclipse the seven Bob Dylan songs taken in the 60s tournament. He's got four so far, and I wouldn't be surprised to see any of these getting taken...
Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours
If You Really Love Me
You Are the Sunshine of My Life
I Believe
Living for the City
He's Misstra Know It All
Boogie On Reggae Woman
You Haven't Done Nothin'
I Wish
Past Time Paradise
Isn't She Lovely
As
Another Star
(I don't feel bad listing them cause let's be honest, anyone in here was gonna pick a song by him anyways if they hadn't already...also this thread is largely populated by the same very small group of enlightened posters)

The one I'm mostly strongly considering isn't even on thatlist. That's how deep Stevie goes. Phenomenal artist.

I was a pubic hair away from taking "Love Having You Around"

And "Love's in Need of Love"

Oh yeah, I wasn't by any means suggested those were the best ones. Just the ones I'd think were most likely to get picked.

Before I picked a direction I considered picking Love Having You Around with my first pick and building around that.

Also, I feel like we haven't talked enough about how awesome You Haven't Done Nothin' is in this thread.

Do you know what? The way he says "YEAH YEAH" and "WOOOO" in the trumpet interlude of "Sir Duke" is brilliant.

So...
Stip requested I make him a Stevie Wonder mix a few weeks back. I just uploaded it for him, so I figured I'd post it here too.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6VItz ... sp=sharing
Here's the track listing...
- Spoiler: show
- Love's in Need of Love Today
Love Having You Around
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours
Uptight (Everything's Alright)
Superstition
Living for the City
You Haven't Done Nothin'
Higher Ground
If You Really Love Me
Boogie On Reggae Woman
I Wish
Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing
I Love Every Little Thing About You
I Was Made to Love Her
My Cherie Amour
I Believe (When I Fall in Love it Will Be Forever)
Another Star
I tried to tailor it to stuff he could conceivably like, and made sure to include multiple tracks from each album in the Music of My Mind - Songs in the Key of Life run. I was gonna put some stuff from The Secret Life of Plants in there too, but I figured I'd leave off anything post-SitKoL for now. But yeah, if he comes in here trying to tear Stevie down, now you can at least put it in context.

I wanted to limit it to the length of a single disc, but still wanted to put multiple songs from each of the golden era records, so anything post-SitKoL fell by the wayside.
I suppose if I really wanted Stip to like it though, maybe it should have been all 80s Stevie...

Badass tune. Top ten Stevie in my book.

While I think songs in the key is his peak, I'm a huge fan of the early Stevie stuff.

I've started lament's mix (I won't get through the whole thing tonight. But 5 songs in and I am really enjoying it, much more than I expected to, to be honest.

I'll post some song by song comments tomorrow (probably) but I gave this whole thing a listen and it was excellent.
