He was in something else I watched recently--Parks & Rec? It also seems like I've watched a thousand movies from the late 1980s/early 1990s that feature Frankie Faison (although the number is probably 3-4, I always smile when I see him).

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Honestly, I don't know many people who dislike Season 2. It's one of my favorites. I can still remember throwing it on after Season 1 and still expecting more of the same "cops vs. street" stuff, and was thrilled when it went in a much more creative direction. It's also got great side characters like Horseface, the black guy who wants to be president of the union (sorry, man), the woman who runs the bar, Nicky's dad, and so on.

Yes, it is. I didn't initially love it as I was watching it, since it was such a huge character departure from the first season. But, after I finished the series the first time, I had a much higher opinion of that season. And, for me, its one of the best seasons to rewatch.

Here are my 5 favorite moments from Season 2; I put it under a spoiler tag because I know verb is lurking around...
Spoiler: show
And even though it's verb, I'd never want to spoil The Wire for anyone!

1. When Beady is tailing Spiros and she fucking misses The Greek--oh! I love these moments when the cops are not superhuman and miss small details, because I'm sure that's how it happens in real life.

2. The scene I mentioned a few posts up, when Nicky goes to the playground with his friend and gets shitfaced after Ziggy gets arrested. Pablo Schreiber doesn't get tons of opportunities to really act--mostly Nicky is just a cocksure jerk--but he does well in this scene. I yell out "College kids ain't shit!" when I'm drunk all the time.

3. When they have the sting and McNulty has sex with the whores. Oh my god. I'm not the biggest McNulty fan in the world, but thinking about this always make me laugh.

4. I can't think of a specific moment, but there are a lot of times where Frank has to defend everything he's doing for the Union, and I think he acts the shit out of those scenes. Frank might be my favorite character from Season 2, because he's so fucking tragic: everything he does is for the good of his union, but he gets so mired in the shit that he can't see straight. He'd be a good guy in almost any other scenario, but he got in bed with the wrong people in order to save his way of life.

5. Anything with the Bunk. I fucking love the Bunk. "The Bunk don't swim."
I reserve the right to change my mind based on the other scenes that people bring up.

I love Frank Sobotka. Reminds me of all my friends' fishermen dads growing up, and your assessment is right on the money. He brought a certain type of element to the series that had previously been missing -- the person who's neither a cop nor a dealer (or relative of either), but is still effected by that world.
Thanks bro
