Kurt's cassette castoffs may end up being the most interesting thing here. One thing you need to remember about Nirvana / KC releases: the people in charge of making them usually don't know what the hell they are doing.

Kurt's cassette castoffs may end up being the most interesting thing here. One thing you need to remember about Nirvana / KC releases: the people in charge of making them usually don't know what the hell they are doing.

Well, that's why I'm buying the digital album. I'm just not spending $150 for the super deluxe.

One of the most surprising things to me this year is that the media never caught on to the treasure trove of Nirvana rarities that leaked. Among them, there were multiple sets of Nevermind and In Utero outtakes, the Fecal Matter demo, a rehearsal tape from 1987 that's incredible, several soundboard recordings of shows (1/23/1988, 10/24/1989, 7/03/1992) and a brand-new jam from 1993 that's absolutely insane.

In the mediaverse we all inhabit, it's amazing to me that these never became a big deal.

The "deluxe" album release concept is so f'ing stupid. Surely it will hit a boiling point some time soon. Why the hell would I want a puzzle, or a shitty folded up movie poster, or what else have you that comes in these dumbass packages?

Especially given that this is something new. Wouldn't a collector's edition make more sense on something that is established as a classic. I notice One Direction has an album coming out that they have not yet offered in a Super Deluxe version.

It's just some executive's "answer" to piracy. The more people steal their music (and to a lesser extend download legally) the more they have to come up with a reason for someone to buy a physical copy. They think puzzles and statues and t-shirts and folded posters will do the trick.
