But the fact that Nickelback inspires such a strong reaction from so many people -- and, perhaps more specifically, the same type of strong reaction -- never ceases to be interesting to me. It also doesn't mean that the reaction is necessarily disingenuous in each specific instance.
The funny thing is you don't really hear anyone in the business say anything bad about Nickelback. Matt's worked with Chad and not said anything bad. Who fans like and hate always seems odd to me. Ben from Soundgarden just seems like a very difficult person, if not asshole and that's from those who know and work with him. Yet fans will say he's great. Then Chad from Nickelback, who doesn't have anyone who's worked with him or knows him have a single bad thing to say about and some people who don't know him act like he's musical evil incarnate. His crime, he makes poppy music and chases a popular sound. Or is it that he's dumbed down dumb music somehow? Yet there's a thread on here adulating Taylor Swift.
Look at this paragraph. Every time I do it makes me laugh.

LV, these past few pages have highlighted, if nothing else, how your having a beer could help you be less uptight and aloof about everything.

I haven't listened to The Cure in nearly a decade and I have no idea why. They're a good band.

Same for me. I've seen them live and my wife still loves them and listens to them from time to time, but I never put them on myself. Weird.

I liked Blur a lot more before I saw the Nardwuar interview. I thought they were the less douchey answer to Oasis, when in reality they're almost equally as douchey.

This is from Kim Gordon's new memoir.
Re: Courtney Love: "No one ever questions the disorder behind her tarantula LA glamour – sociopathy, narcissism – because it’s good rock and roll, good entertainment! I have a low tolerance for manipulative, egomaniacal behaviour, and usually have to remind myself that the person might be mentally ill."
I need to listen to more Sonic Youth. And I wonder if The Eternal is good.

This. The other two haven't managed to do anything for me, yet. Too bad, seeing that Doolittle is one of my favorite records of all time. I don't want to talk about
- Spoiler: show
- Indie Cindy.
