lol no. I think the third act is garbage. Once Sam tells the blowjob story, then they start choking JJL, the whole thing just feels mean-spirited and gratuitous. Loved the first 2/3 though.

I feel pretty similarly. I love the rest so much that I don't care. I ordered the Blu-Ray, which is arriving today and will watch it today or tomorrow and see if I can enjoy it from a different perspective or not. If so, it may be moving up my list.

Same issues with Django, only for the entire film. Felt like QT wants me to feel bad about slavery. I already do. The brutality he illustrates, mixed with the "comic touches," just left a bad taste in my mouth. Felt exploitive and not particularly entertaining.

I think it's less about making you feel bad about slavery and more about setting up the villains and feeling satisfied when they die and Django gets his revenge. The comic touches, I agree, can be jarring, but I like them. It's fun.

i got negative satisfaction from this movie

Joe, I hate Django and suspect you would as well, for the same sorts of reasons...

Hateful Eight is 2/3 of a fantastic film that feels more like a theatrical play. The ending stretch is pointlessly cruel though.

I don't like QT as a director in general and I don't like Jaime Foxx either. Nor am I very keen on Westerns, in general. The movie has a lot going against it from the jump.

On top of that, the things I've heard about the movie don't give me a lot of hope either.
