Really, the worst part isn't so much that the album is WORSE than prior albums, but that the album feels so boring and uninteresting. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of 808s & Heartbreak, but at least that album is interesting. Kanye is trying something new. It's a necessary step in his musical evolution. I don't find anything new or compelling about anything S-K is doing on NCTL. It just feels like a watered-down version of who they once were, only now they're compromised by ten years of outside influences that aren't nearly as interesting as what the old S-K was.
They seemed infallible prior to this. Even their performances I've seen (on late night shows) seem neutered and boring. This is not the S-K I know and love.
Is it your goal to bring Kanye into every thread?

I just hope SK can put LV's disappointment in them behind them and find some reason to live and hope again.

When critiquing modern bands, we have to remember that we are living in a post-Kanye world. They simply can't be expected to produce anything beyond mere triviality. As a non-Kanye group of artists, Sleater-Kinney deserves some credit simply for having the courage to wake up in the morning without blowing their heads off in despair. Their music has been ruined. These are brave women.

When I saw them live, I was surprised how great her voice was. She maintained a ton of power during the hiatus but has even more control over it than she ever did.

Corin sounds GREAT on the version of RITFW from 2013 (the unofficial start to the end of the hiatus of SK)
love that Carrie got a lil solo, and, every concert should end with Janet and Matt playing 1 drum set

Also worth checking out is their Sound Opinions interview and performance of Price Tag, No Cities To Love, Get Up and Modern Girl.
