This, to me, is the primary reason this is worth discussing at all. A lot of people who have spent time with the man recently have been very comfortable propping him up as a useful political ally. It’s pretty hard to believe, as loudly as he was saying this stuff today, that he didn’t say anything straight up fucked while meeting with any of these folks who went on to say flattering things….or promote him as a part of a shared ideology.

There is cynical opportunism at the heart of any act of enabling, and at least some of the cynical opportunism affecting Kanye’s life has taking the form of people very clearly covering for him because they found his association useful to their ideological ambitions. What happened today exposes the severity of language they were willing to turn a blind eye to, in the name of immediate gain.

For Milo and Nick Fuentes, they basically have nothing to lose so a gamble made sense as there might be an upside. Those closer to respectability like Tim Pool - what was the calculation there?

I heard a rumour that there was a blow up between him and Trump at their meeting. He left Pool before they could talk about it, but I wonder what happened there.
