are you using fixed length or zoom lenses to get those images, turned2black?
All those Montana pics were shot with my Sony Cyber-shot RX-100. I don't generally use the zoom (limited to 3.6X anyway) at all.
I'd say the only shots I really missed by taking a subcompact instead of a DSLR with a decent zoom lens would be some wildlife shots.

have you ever thought of trying to sell some of your photos? or at least enter into some amateur photo competitions?
Thanks!
I have gotten a couple of requests for prints and I have thought about linking a print-selling service to my tumblr site, but I'm having far too much fun to take this photography thing too serious.

This is a good image, Charlie, although it looks over-sharpened to me. Did you post-process here?

I did.
My tumblr account does some weird stuff with black and whites sometimes. It looks fine in Lightroom and looks good on my tumblr page, but looks overly sharp when I link to the image here.
Edit: Scratch that, it's too sharp on my tumblr as well.
I'm trying to wean myself off of effects, sharpening and just generally over-working images. It's a difficult process. Someone hold me.

Were these with your fisheye, mf?
These guys look intense.

Haha, it can be a struggle sometimes.
I don't think that sharpening has killed the capture but it has introduced artifacts into the background and shadow areas that it could do without. I like grain as much as the next guy (in fact, I love film grain) but in some places the sharpening has introduced digital grain. There also seems to be some haloing on the right side of the image that I'm guessing shouldn't be there.
Despite those technical aspects the subject's expression is good and the light is very good. A moment in time that you'll look back on fondly, no doubt.

yup. i went 100% fisheye that night. it's a tough lens to use in that situation mostly because you need to get in the band's face (within a foot in a lot of cases) so that they don't look too distant. i wouldn't normally operate that way unless i knew the guys and knew they'd be cool with it.

Thanks. It was one of those that I didn't really think much of when I shot it, but became a happy little surprise when reviewing pics on my computer.
