I thought I saw the nova sign too combined with capt marvel.. I'd imagine that strange has some sorts of master plan giving Thanos the gem.. being he saw the only scenario that they win.. I thought it was dumb to turn spidey n panther to dust for the sake of suspense, being we know their sequels are in the works
Spoiler: show
well I think it is easy to forget what people may not know/assume. When BP turned to dust my showing audibly gasped. And Spider-Man’s death was moving and the impact it will have on Stark will be profound.

Any world with superpowers/magic, etc. will always have a way to bring back a character. It is written into the fabric of the universe. So the way to judge the impact/stakes of a death are by how it affects the characters in the world and the audience watching it.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is coming in July. Then Captain Marvel in March 2019, followed closely by Avengers 4 in May
Which begs the question
Spoiler: show
how will the new Ant-Man fit into this timeline?

Spidey's death was heartbreaking to watch

I am not super familiar with the source material, but I thought that Thanos was supposed to be in love with death? like he sees this abstract the same way a man would fall for a woman. I didn't buy at the time that Gamora was what he loved the most because of that and that he would've killed her, someone he obviously cared for as evidenced by the tears he shed and it would've been all for naught

The trailers were misleading. Hulk is shown at the final battle. He wasn’t there in the film.

the death thing is in the comics but there are not anthropomorphized concepts in the MCU yet. i like the direction they went in more - the driven genius fanatic who sees past normal moral limitations to do what they think needs to be done for the greater good no matter the cost to themselves

they do this a bit so as to not give away plot points or storylines

in the comics joss whedon and john cassaday pulled off the ultimate misleader

when joss was doing astonishing xmen cassaday accidently posted a image he was working on to one of the social sites and people flipped out. the art was of phoenix embracing scott and the caption welcome back. fans freaked out thinking joss was bringing back jean grey

turns out he did that on purpose so no one would see it was actually colossus who they were bringing back. caught many by surprise

having said that, in thor ragnarok they showed thor with two eyes so you had no idea hela stabbed him. i am sure this is the same concept
Spoiler: show
hulk has always been the strongest and toughest out there. with thanos soundly beating him at the beginning this is the first time that the hulk has tasted defeat/bled. now the hulk is actually scared of something that he cannot beat. it would make sense the hulk would not want to face again as he now has the fear of death something he never had before

I'm assuming there are deaths in this thing. I don't need to know who dies but do the deaths feel consequential? Does it seem like they matter? Or is it all just going to be fixed/retconned/reversed in Part 4? Do the deaths have any weight at all?
