I can't say that this would get repeat listens. Could be a struggle getting through it once.

The comp-style tracklist makes me thinks they've axed his between-song sermons, except maybe in the bonus show you get if you order off his website. I shelled for the full set this time -- while this period obviously doesn't represent his songwriting pinnacle, it is an absolute high watermark for his voice, and this has probably the highest percentage of previously unreleased material of any bootleg series dating back to...the 1964 concert? The '81 shows in particular are among my very favorites, and a long overdue addition to his official canon. Though I do miss the smaller, more carefully curated volumes...

If you could only take 3 Dylan albums/releases with you to the desert island, what would they be?
1. Rolling Thunder Review
2. Bootleg Series: Another Self Portrait
3. Blood on the Tracks
What about you?

Historically the ones I keep going back to are:
Desire
Infidels
Blood on the Tracks
Although I appreciate I'm limiting my Dylan with these choices...

The fact that you switched it up and kept Infidels is so awesome, Higgs! I love that record.

Yeah, it has a special place for me. It is a real 'go to' Bob album, especially during summer.

Tom Petty's cover of Licence To Kill is a favourite of mine.
There was some great material on and off of Infidels.

Blood On The Tracks
Street Legal
And then it's tied between Oh, Mercy, Time Out Of Mind, or 'Love & Theft'. I can't pick!

Exact same for me. But I'd make every effort to smuggle in more.

I am with you on the ties. All of those could have been in my 3.
I need to go back and listen to Street Legal. I basically dismissed it after one listen and haven't returned.

"Street-Legal" is a wildly inconsistent record with titanic high points. "Changing of the Guards" is damn near my favorite Dylan song.
