I still can't get over the fact that Jerome Bettis went into the HOF...

So Lynn Swan said some stupid things about Calvin Johnson not being a HOF'er. Pretty ironic coming from him.

Except that he was pretty awful at actually catching the ball. But he was definitely better once he had the ball in his hands, and during his prime he probably was a bigger game changer.
TO was also one hell of a blocker, and I have a soft spot for WRs who are willing to do that dirty work. It's why I'll be OK if Hines Ward goes in even if his receiving numbers are marginal and he gets the Steeler HOF bonus.
I think Harrison was a class A off the field asshole too. He was just a quiet asshole.

Harrison literally killed people and forced witnesses to be quiet. Just goes to show, do what you do just don't piss off or on the sensitive egos of the sports media. Probably won't hurt to stroke the egos of those prideful bastards either.

One time when the colts were warming up before a game against the jets a ball boy for the jets got too close to Harrison so Harrison knocked him to the ground and started to strangle him. Security guards broke it up. A ball boy.

Every time I see this thread I read it as "Will he be a Hog Farmer?"

Every time.

The "T.O. dropped a lot of passes" thing is largely overrated. He had 2 bad years of drops in Dallas, but other than that he was generally "good." Also, he went across the middle A LOT and those receivers will naturally have more drops than receivers who primarily play wide.

Yeah, for those of you not too familiar with Harrison, he is waaaay worse a person than T.O. ever is/was. T.O. is just a diva, and certainly belongs in before Harrison. That ball boy story is absolutely true and I'm amazed it didn't get more coverage. I guess have Manning as your QB goes a long way.

The specter of Manning is literally the only thing I can think that is keeping Harrison out of the bulls eye but it's pretty awful that dude has been living easy. Lets talk about that cam press conference again though.

Marshawn Lynch? I'm a Seahawks fan so I'm biased, but I say yes. Ran behind some pretty crappy offensive lines. Had some huge moments in the playoffs - of course he should have had one more in Super Bowl XLIX.

Very comparable numbers to Earl Campbell, and Campbell's in.

No

I get that he retired early and therefore his numbers take a huge hit I the grand scheme of things, but am I the only one who thinks he might have been on the verge of a Shaun Alexander-like dive off a cliff numbers wise?

You are not the only one. I think there's a good chance they would have cut Lynch if he didn't retire.

Marshawn won quite a few games BY HIMSELF. Well by himself on offense at least.

The past tense in your statement is critical. Seahawks are lucky they didn't go full Shaun Alexander with that Lynch extension.

I guess Lynch would be helped by the utter lack of running backs aside from Peterson in this generation who would even merit consideration (aside from Peterson, and obviously moving back a few years, Tomlinson, is there any other RB who is a no brainer HOF electee?)

I really don't get the people saying he might not be. Sounds like they just want to be contrarian.

EDIT: Also, very good to see you back!

Fucking Pro Football Hall of Fame...Pat Bowlen has little, if any, time for his memory, and they instead nominate Jerrah and Tagliabue. Ugh.
