Thanks for having the wife and me to your dinner party.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
Thanks to these posts, I am now hooked on Lore. I definitely prefer the story/location-based episodes over the creature-based episodes, though.tragabigzanda wrote:I only listened to the first few eps, but they were all great. I just listened to an episode about a supposedly haunted doll in the dark and it freaked me out good.
There's a bunch of episodes that take place in Massachusetts, so I love the local flavor, too.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Thanks to these posts, I am now hooked on Lore. I wasn't crazy about the first ep. Loved the second, though.Self wrote:I just listened to the first episode of Lore. I felt nothing.
I'll give it a shot on the ride home. I need something new.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I wasn't crazy about the first ep. Loved the second, though.Self wrote:I just listened to the first episode of Lore. I felt nothing.
I subscribed to this; it better be good!durdencommatyler wrote: I took a shot on Tannis (by the same people that do Black Tapes) and really liked the first episode a lot. I think I dig it more than Black Tapes but its similar.
I was hoping for more history. It's mostly just ghost stories and people saying they saw ghosts.Self wrote:I'll give it a shot on the ride home. No Black Tapes spoilers? I'm only 4 episodes into that, I think.durdencommatyler wrote:Simple Torture wrote:I subscribed to this; it better be good!durdencommatyler wrote: I took a shot on Tannis (by the same people that do Black Tapes) and really liked the first episode a lot. The first episode is fun. It's mostly the same people, it's a real spinoff of Black Tapes. Same characters and voices, but this one is hosted by Nick not Alex. And it's weirder. At least, the first episode is. I don't know. I need to listen to more before I give it a full endorsement but I like ep 1.
Not in that first episode no. It's a different thing. It's "Producer Nick's" show. He talks to Alex Regan; she's in the episode. It's a Pacific Northwest Stories podcast or whatever. But there was nothing in the first episode that spoiled anything in Black Tapes.Simple Torture wrote:No Black Tapes spoilers? Yeah. It might be good by a campfire...if everyone was high.BurtReynolds wrote:I was hoping for more history. I was about to come back to the thread to post that I was frustrated with the "allegedly-serial" nature of the podcast, and how things just didn't seem to tie together at the end of each episode. But I just finished one (episode 6) and they've got a teaser at the end that keeps me intrigued--we'll see!Simple Torture wrote:I started listening to The Black Tapes after reading some good reviews, and while the first two episodes were sufficiently creepy (although the third one was a step down), I'm finding it hard to get over the fact that all of these "fictional podcasts based on Serial" are over-acted to shit. You can tell that they tell their actors, "Act casual!" and they all come off stilted and weird, especially when they want to play a "quirky" character.
Ooh, bummer. Yeah, I haven't gotten into the second episode yet. But I don't like that.Simple Torture wrote:I finished the first season of The Black Tapes and enjoyed it; however, I feel like it's just "good" with some flashes of greatness, and that for some reason it can't get over the hump. I started TANIS instead of moving onto The Black Tapes season 2, and it's caught my attention much more quickly--there just seems to be a much deeper lore right off the bat, and the stakes of the mystery are much more apparent. However, the similarities to House of Leaves so far (I'm 2 episodes in) are bothering me a bit more than the similarities to the X-Files in the finale of TBT season 1.
