I dont care about rotten tomatoes, the movie is mostly bland and boring and its still a huge hit. 360 millions in the Us and 900 millions worldwide.

Well I don't see much difference between 59 and 60% but nitpick if you must.

I can't imagine a measure of a movie I care less about about than the rotten tomatoes audience score.

Critics still serve a useful purpose to me.
I don't know everything about filmmaking and music and sometimes they point out things that I hadn't thought of and that can influence my opinions.

Sometimes critics don't influence my opinions, however.
Like my opinion that 95% of the garbage Marvel shovels out is pure horseshit.

Allowing a critic to tell you what and/or how to think is folly. But there are a lot of insightful critics that can add to the conversation and/or present new thoughts/takes/ideas that are interesting and informative. I'm not ready to wholesale condemn criticism in any way. Criticism is valuable, I think. Especially responsible criticism. But I do think you're asking for trouble if you allow a critic -- ANY critic -- to tell you what to think and how to feel. That's fucking stupid.

what joey means by this post, although it is given in a very abrupt and condescending if one were to take it as such, is that allow your mind to think for itself and enjoy the film, music or work of art without any type of bias that people who are paid and not paid to voice their opines will often drill into your head and subvert your original thought.
once you have partaken in such delights or disappointments seek out those who espouse their words in a positive way or a less than favorable way to perhaps look at what you just did from a different light in order to gain enhance your own understanding of it.

I love reading reviews, and given how limited my free time is I think critical consensus is a good heuristic to help decide whether or not to see something if you weren't already all in.
