And he put on a huge whine fest to the band about it. Pj did the classy thing and then he does that shit? Lol. He's been whining in the press for years. I still stand on the side of the band here.
As the page has been taken down maybe it wasn't a quote. Basically we know very little.

We know more about Ed's divorce than Dave A's relationship with the band.

What I've never understood is why Dave never hooked up with another group after he left the band. I mean other than that GRO album, he hasn't really done anything of note at all since 1994. You would think playing with the former drummer for arguably the biggest band in the world would be pretty desirable back in the mid-90's (and even today, think of how many "former" members of big bands still get gigs). He apparently liked the rockstar lifestyle, so I assume he didn't actively decide to "retire". One has to assume he is hard to work with, isn't really as talented as one might think, or is just a big d-bag. Probably a combination of all three.

this is a good point. considering his talent and pedigree, it's unfathomable that he couldn't get another good gig.

That 96 article made it sound like he was happy to not deal with the industry for a while. But I always thought the same, why wasn't he playing with someone?

I think you guys are forgetting his contributions as drummer/sometimes lead singer of seminal 90s Mexican pop-rock group ManĂ¡

I think the right path is to issue a statement when asked that you're happy for your former bandmates, and you regret that you'll be unable to attend the inauguration.

That being said, what about Shoaf you fuckers!

Except he wanted a cookie but was only offered the chance to watch some other kids eat a packet of cookies.

maybe his expectations were a little askew.
maybe we're getting insight into reasons he was kicked out :haha:

My guess is your average band doesn't want a drummer to challenge the "leadership" of the band which is what Dave says he did in Pearl Jam. Also he wasn't the biggest fan of alternative rock/popular music of the day. I believe he mentioned jazz/funk fusion as an interest.

The article was some website saying they got a text from Dave that basically said I'm not going to be there I have better things to do. It was just one sentence.

Putting all the rumoured events aside like Dave breaking the guitar and all that stuff, could it not be ed had his eyes on jack for the job and just set out to make that happen? He was desperate to be seen to have credibility and have paid his dues at the time. Dave was just too rawk and that rankled?

Everyone seems to forget that Ament also spoke out against Dave A in the sense that they had no musical connection.

Maybe the story is just not that interesting. Maybe the internal squabbles are just not that interesting. Maybe thats why we dont hear about stuff.

That makes sense.

Dave was the natural and replaceable innocent bystander catching the bullet from the pressure and unspoken conflict between ed and stone was always my take on it.

That shit had to blow somewhere. It landed on Dave.
