Why would he temper himself? THere is little to suggest there will even be a backlash, just like all the other times he's said the same stuff. The only people that care are people that would never vote for him anyway.

To borrow from an article posted a few pages ago, this is really a referendum on whose tribe is bigger. I don't think gaining independents or flipping people in the other party is as much of a concern at this point. It seems the Hilldog has made some attempts to actually gain votes, but not much.

Which is funny because both candidates have been so terrible at motivating their entire tribe. The far Left hates Hillary and the moderate Republicans won't vote for Trump.

It's just that... there are ways to address this whole thing without coming off like a tone-deaf asshole. This is not some super-tricky political trap. There are ways to brush it off. Pence came closer, but what the hell is Trump doing?
