I get it. I really do. But again, why 73 hours? Why not 70? Or 71 over one 10 episode season?
The answer: $$$$
And that's the bottom line.
I get it. It's fine. I'll wait. HBO can/will do what they want and I'll still tune in because GRRM still won't have dropped a new fucking book yet. I have no choice. I'm pot commited!

It seems like HBO wanted 20 episodes and the showrunners said 14-15. I may have misread previous articles but it sounded like they are streamlining these final seasons, not extending them.
HBO wants this show to go on forever. They are perfectly happy milking this cash cow, obviously.
Dan & Dave said they wanted to wrap it up in 7 seasons (70 hours).
It seems pretty clear to me that 73 hours is the compromize. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe we really need 73 hours to finish this. Seems a bit strange to me at this point but we'll see. I think D&D should have stuck to their guns. I firmly believe they could wrap this up in one more season, production wise and writing wise, especially if they were to extend each of the 10 episodes by 10 to fifteen minutes.

You seem like a very cynical person. I trust the show runners. Only time will tell..

Despite what they call Jorah in Essos, the Mormonts are descendants of the First Men, not the Andals.
But to answer your question, Ser Barristan assuming that he has Andal blood in him as a Southron Knight.

They keep the New Gods in Harvest Hall, so he is surely an Andal. The Mormonts also likely have Andal blood in them considering the Andals numbers when they invaded and generations of marrying other houses
