The dream is dead:
What’s wrong with the USPS?tragabigzanda wrote:USPS definitely needs a change. They should maybe go the Amtrak route of public/private.bune wrote:isn't Trump trying to kill the USPS though?
I'm alright with paying taxes towards USPS even if they lose money. They fucking deliver mail to my god damned door every god damned day for fifty god damned cents. They're cheaper than private options. They're faster than private options. They're deliverymen are nicer than private options.tragabigzanda wrote:from the horse's mouth:LoathedVermin72 wrote:What’s wrong with the USPS?tragabigzanda wrote:USPS definitely needs a change. The first thing that will happen when you pass USPS over to the private sector is a giant rate hike for shittier service with the excuse of "What did you expect? Letters delivered to your god damned door every god damned day for fifty god damned cents? That's impossible."
Okay now do government in general.Rob wrote:People like to complain about the post office, but privatizing it is a silly argument. The mission of the post office is to service every zip code, not to turn big profits. No private firm can do this and remain profitable. UPS & Fedex can't do it and remain viable. So any "efficient" private model would still end up heavily subsidized and costing us even more. It can use an upgrade, for sure.
