i injured my back last october. very painful to bend over. i tried to walk a lot and do mackenzie stretches. was sleeping on a floor, which kind of helped. then i think all three of those activies started to aggrivate the injury and my left leg.

after about a month, my left achilles, calf and glut started to throb when i'd sit, walk or stand. got worse, then stayed bad. then my feet really started to hurt. my primary doc said to start with looking at imaging of the back, then we'd fan out to the rest of the left leg and foot, if necessary.

i did end up having scans of my feet (not mri or ct -- it was a mickey mouse scan at my chiropractor's office), that showed collasped arches. got orthodic slips.

eventually had an mri of my lower back, which showed a herniated disk. doc said pt wasn't gettign the disc back in. had the cortisone shot today. more pt.

i'm guessig you've got experinece with back pain?
I broke my back in 1988..unbearable pain. L4 and 5 I think..I also come from a family with bad arthritis and my feet (mostly right) is a bitch to deal with from time to time...meds every day for the last umpteen years. I could still beat Lenny at golf though...hope it works out for you. its more annoying the older you get
fucking hell douglas. that sounds like a temporary stint in hell. glad you're managing, but still, that sucks even now.

and thanks for the advice on footwewar. i have some nice saucony's with expesnive orhtodic inserts. have had the inerts for probably 4-5 weeks. i know they can take some time to produce a positive effect.

boats are still overpriced IMO

maybe when this recession kicks in there will be some price reductions
We actually found a better deal on a new one than anything on the secondary market. Just took a few months to come in.
noice

inboard or outboard?
Outboard pontoon
Fun fact: I’m actually a certified Johnson/Evinrude technician. (Actually BRP)
sickkk

i just passed my boater certification!

was looking at boats to rent nearby ... was eyeing a pontoon, figure that's a good gentle first ride for a leisurely day

I couldn’t walk for a month. Two over a couple weeks got me back on my feet.
j -- what was day one like for you? i feel pessimistic because the local anaesthetic was supposed to mask the pain i was feeling (assuming that the source of the pain was the same spot as where the shot was administered.) today i've had pretty typical leg and foot pain as iv'e had for months, so as i've thought for some time, and now believe more strongly, it seems that i have at least a second injury.
Day one was some improvement, but not much. That’s why I had the second cortisone shot a couple weeks later, which began my road to recovery. I had a herniated disc L4 or 5 - that’s lower spine where we bend over and put the strain on our backs when we don’t lift with our legs blah blah. Pinches the nerve to our legs and feet. For me, it was my left leg… unbearable pain off and on and almost total loss of strength.

Give it a few more days, maybe a week. If it’s not getting you where you want, ask about a second shot.

My guy who did our stair rails last week texted last night that he could fit in my wife’s office door install today, so I ran out to the paint store for a bucket of flat, and now I’m waiting in the Menards parking lot so we can pick up the door at 8. Just quietly sipping coffee in the morning sun while my wife gets the kid sorted ahh.
