Get some sausages and an onion. Chop everything up throw in a hot pan with butter. Salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste. Red pepper flakes if you're feeling extra spicy.

i thought about doing something like that, sans onions...i saw a recipe that had most of that plus chicken broth and rice

You don't need rice. It's just a filler.
