I could be wrong but I feel like it's hard to get motivated to do shit you don't actually give a fuck about. So try to find things that don't require motivation. Too many people try to be something they are not...lennytheweedwhacker wrote:What's it like to have motivation?

Seems like you didn't even actually want an answer to the question so I guess even the question was coming from the wrong place. Now you wasted both of our time.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:Ok I’m quitting RMDev wrote:I could be wrong but I feel like it's hard to get motivated to do shit you don't actually give a fuck about. i dunnoDev wrote:Question for RM: what percent of the time when you reach out to someone or someone reaches out to you do they just say something meaningless like 'sup?' without really having something to say? Is this normal? Is it acceptable? Am I a dick because I find it annoying?
Like I even had a guy message me the other day and say 'hey we should talk again' and in the back of my head I was like 'sure but about what? If you have something to say say it'.
sup?Dev wrote:Question for RM: what percent of the time when you reach out to someone or someone reaches out to you do they just say something meaningless like 'sup?' without really having something to say? Is this normal? Is it acceptable? Am I a dick because I find it annoying?

Sounds like your friend is expressing that they miss you and want to spend time with you. Why do they need a specific topic to talk about?Dev wrote:Question for RM: what percent of the time when you reach out to someone or someone reaches out to you do they just say something meaningless like 'sup?' without really having something to say? I know but he's putting the burden of the conversation on me and I am the worst at small talk. And yeah, I need a specific conversation because what do I say without any topic!?LoathedVermin72 wrote:Sounds like your friend is expressing that they miss you and want to spend time with you. This is a strange way to think about basic human interaction IMO. But if it really feels so burdensome (and assuming you share his interest in connecting), why not just tell him something along those lines? “I’d love to hang out but I’m terrible at small talk.” Give it a light tone. Put it back on him to do the legwork. Really seems like you’re overcomplicating this.Dev wrote:I know but he's putting the burden of the conversation on me and I am the worst at small talk. Gonna have to think about this. Not sure if you are right or not giving me the benefit of the doubt.LoathedVermin72 wrote:This is a strange way to think about basic human interaction IMO.
