Like I even had a guy message me the other day and say 'hey we should talk again' and in the back of my head I was like 'sure but about what? If you have something to say say it'.
Sounds like your friend is expressing that they miss you and want to spend time with you. Why do they need a specific topic to talk about?
I know but he's putting the burden of the conversation on me and I am the worst at small talk. And yeah, I need a specific conversation because what do I say without any topic!?
This is a strange way to think about basic human interaction IMO. But if it really feels so burdensome (and assuming you share his interest in connecting), why not just tell him something along those lines? “I’d love to hang out but I’m terrible at small talk.” Give it a light tone. Put it back on him to do the legwork. Really seems like you’re overcomplicating this.
Gonna have to think about this. Not sure if you are right or not giving me the benefit of the doubt.
My tone was unnecessarily judgmental. Sorry. Been a rough couple of…fuck, is this year over yet?

I think both of us are introverted and extroverted in different ways. My wife is very good at small talk and making people want to be her friend, but she also can get exhausted by too much socializing. I’m not very good at starting conversations but I enjoy them once I’m in them and consider myself pretty much an open book.

I’ve never really thought about it before but I suppose my wife is pretty type A. I, generally, am not.

And would you say your other relationships follow the same pattern? Who initiates stuff between you and your friends?

Not really, no. I would say I usually am the initiator.

While away in holiday - I started to get this wierd sensation in my lips - like they were burnt or something - vaping hurt like bitch, so that took a back-seat. Then I stared waking with odd parts of my mouth having swelled up and shit - made talking difficult. I'd had the lip thing before, couldn't remember the cause, but the mouth swelling was new to me. I went on google to find an answer - and buried near the bottom of the links I got back was the answer. We had got a different type of toothpaste for the trip and it was seriously messing up my mouth. I realised when I started reading the article that this had previously been the cause many months ago, so switched back to what I normally use and back to normal within a day - has this happened to anyone else?

My sister just went through this, ended up in the ER.

It was constipation. They prescribed the colonoscopy prep stuff to relieve it.

I should’ve gotten you a Stanley mug for Christmas. Hydration is so important.

i drink like 6-10 pints of water a day usually but certain days when my routine is disrupted i get all thrown off. i had some heartburn too and took some pepto bismol which backed me up.

today i hit a double dose of metamucil - one a noon and one at like 5pm - hoping it sorts this out

Who is the best RMer to get people to talk about the thing they want to talk about no matter what everyone else wants to talk about?

I don’t want to talk about that.
