That’d be nice. Their social media shit has been very active lately which has made me wonder, but I’m not expecting it.
Also wtf is this

Their last show was in September though. There's still a chance!

Yeah they really under-utilize his song writing skills. But I don’t know if they fit that well with the band’s strategies. I wish they’d just say fuck it and let him loose. Just let him and Jeff write a whole album. Hell, let them write the lyrics and Ed can come fly in from the Cubs spring training for 2 days and do his part.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular comment, but I think they under-use Matt simply because his writing is at a level above the other 4 and it would require skill and patience that they quite frankly don't have.

Guess we will never know why this band who make really cool solo albums from ideas that Ed vetoed are so creatively lifeless together, gee wiz.

Some people don't like group projects.

Matt posted an Instagram story from a recording studio a month or so ago but there was no indication that it was for a Pearl Jam session and I'd be really surprised if they were anywhere near ready to release an album.
I have a half-baked theory that Soundgarden and AC/DC messed with the band's plans in the last few years.

they can record an album of matt / jeff songs but its moot bc they won’t last long in the live rotation. over time ed clealy just favors (or is able to remember) his own songs

Stip! I basically want new PJ music so that you are active on the board and look forward to reading your write-ups about each new tune.

They had footage from the alpine pj20 shows on their Instagram yesterday.
Though that was odd

AC/DC?
They’ve been recording a new album, presumably with Brendan O’Brien.

I was about to ask the same question, thanks.

I was also about to ask it, but no longer feel the need to. Thank you.

If you want me to expand: Soundgarden seemed as though they were gearing up for a busy new album cycle when Chris died, so I expect the Pearl Jam guys had planned on most of 2018 (even 2019) being pretty low-key, perhaps made family plans or whatever. Obviously things changed and Matt is suddenly available but, given they probably map this stuff out months to years in advance, they may not have songs written, be able to move their lives around at short notice, etc. On top of that, with AC/DC suddenly bringing back their fired/retired members into the fold and hitting the studio with Brendan, their preferred producer is also tied up with other projects.
Look, I said it was half-baked.
