So was that last line in the trailer directed at McP?

I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan but that trailer got me excited for the movie. I love those scavenging/ship exploring shots.

So how does this work? We all know Abrams has a certain style but the director of the next film, are all three films already written? I'm not familiar with the next directors work I don't think, and that's maybe a moot point cos we don't know what the story is about really or where it has to go..will it be a ramp up in tension within character storylines & excitement via more and bigger battles etc?

So many questions

Rian Johnson is directing the next star wars film and is also the writer. Which will be interesting because there was a lot of hands involved in the writing process of the force awakens. Not sure about the third in this trilogy or 9th over all.

tons of small details littered everywhere in the scenes we've been able to see. You can tell a lot of love and care has been put into this.

Now we find out if his movie is worth all the hype we paid for

From the trailers i really get the sense it's a heavy storyline. Not a lot of fluff.

But, realistically, outside of nostalgia-tickling (which I hate), what in that trailer looks significantly different from trailers for stuff like Oblivion, Ender's Game, Abram's Star Trek, etc.? I just don't see what people think is setting this apart outside of its brand.

Why does it have to be set apart? Star Wars changed the fuckjng genre and helped make what it is today. It's the story that is different than all those. The Star Wars saga has captured people's imaginations for generations. (Normal people. Not people like you ) and this trailer - for damn near everyone (except you and mcp) points exactly to why Star Wars was special in the first place.
