the celebrity effect has nothing to do with their on-screen performances, it's a you problem

Seems like I don't see much of actors these days outside of the movies. The problem with Chalamet is that he's in every movie, and he hasn't impressed me much.

For me, it actually enhances a great performance if an actor is able to transform into a character, because I know so much about who they are IRL. And if they're always basically playing themselves in a role, or put in poor performances, it makes no difference who they are IRL because I'm not interested enough in them to begin with. Just stop reading People magazine and try to enjoy good art for what it is.
