I didn't know this was a John Carpenter movie! How delightful!
What a fun little movie. Tommy Lee Jones must have been a hard sell as a leading man at the time.

Yes. Jim tells a story about seeing him at a restaurant around the time of filming and TLJ being seriously perturbed by the unexpected encounter.

It was almost "video game pov" at times, but in a good way. It made it feel very exploratory and immersive.

I think that's part of what makes the film so interesting. There's a ton of heartbreaking subtext paired with an often uproariously funny, almost slapstick sensibility, and an unflinchingly fatalistic resolution, all of which serve to contextualize the whirlwind fairytale of the first act as the empty fantasy it is. Each piece illuminates the other. A nuanced and textured film

Im never surprised when Joe doesn’t like a masterpiece but I am susprised with this take. Kinda felt he would loved it
