I predict we're all gonna be almost horrified yet LV will love it. Not sure if it will be on its merits or on our horror but let's see.

Think it's not gonna land on first viewing. It will take a few.

Listen to this. Chris Taylor author of how Star Wars conquered the universe, talking to the almost mythical Gary Kurtz about his sudden disappearance from the Star Wars family before Jedi and the making of Star Wars. He dispelles a few myths and makes a few others. And chris is wonderful anyways. It's a fascinating listen

yeah, but that could mean anything. He didn't say it wasn't Ezra. Maybe he used to be Ezra but went dark after the Rebels timeline, essentially becoming someone else.
Sure. I hope that's the case. I want you to be happy.

Based on the talent involved and the footage we've seen so far, I think there's something like a 2% chance that I don't adore this movie from the very first viewing.

I expect LV to like things about it but to ultimately feel underwhelmed and disappointed that it wasn't all that different from what has come before. He'll like it way more than TFA but way less than Rougue One or Empire.

Because I mean it. I genuinely want Ruddo to be happy.

My stab at it

The NEW REPUBLIC has been decimated. The FIRST ORDER striking from their hidden base has destroyed the new galactic republic...

GENERAL LEIA leads the resistance, the galaxy's last hope against the evil first order, lead by SUPREME LEADER SNOKE and they are amassing their forces..

Little do they know that LUKE SKYWALKER has been found and with his new apprentice is coming to face this threat and restore freedom to the galaxy.....

Prediction: This won't make as much money worldwide as Fate of the Furious

Joke aside.

Now we're gonna see how good the Disney marketing machine is. Forc awakens was equivalent to low hanging fruit. The world wanted a new Star Wars.

This one is where they prove or not fair hat they can keep that interest.

I wasn't joking. Fate of the Furious made way more worldwide than TFA or Rogue One. I don't see this one doing as well as F&F either.

The Force Awakens Worldwide BO: $2,068,223,624
Rogue One Worldwide BO: $1,056,057,273
Fate of the Furious Worldwide BO: $1,238,764,765

So it made a tad more than R1. And almost a billion less than The Force Awakens.

Sorry, I meant opening weekend. My fault for not clarifying.

To be fair, F&F opened everywhere on the same weekend I think. So do the numbers get skewed because of that?

I guess not:

Opening weekend totals worldwide:

F&F: 530 Million
TFA: 528.9 Million
R1: 290.5 Million

Yes. TFA didn't open in the same markets as F&F. For example, it opened in China several weeks after opening in the US. F&F opened everywhere (at least all the big markets) on the same date. It's no wonder F&F had a stronger international opening weekend. I believe TFA killed it domestically, though. Not sure about R1.

They should just get Vin Diesel to be in a Star Wars movie.
