Though this was reported in the media frequently and is still repeated often, he did not actually do this. The gun was already in the state at his friend’s house. He did not bring a gun across state lines.

For Rosenbaum, some people proclaim that child rapists should be executed in all cases, which is a take I guess. (Of coure this is not public policy)

I don't believe I've seen the same about Huber, more like his demise was not much of a loss.

These are emotional, vaguely moral arguments, which has very little to do with how the legal system functions. But yes, consistency is too much to hope for.

If the circumstances are substantially similar except that the teams are reversed, then the verdict should be the same.

Everyone with an IQ > room temp knows the circumstances won’t be even close. But hey, keep FA and you’ll keep FO.

There's a split on the general performance of the defence. Part of their questionable decisions could have been inspired by things we are not privy to, such as their client's requests and the demeanor of the jury. Seems like the jury forewoman was very for convicting him of something.

Maybe we should be nicer to dime if this is the quality of reporting he is seeing.

I think its perfectly fine to shoot someone who tries to wrest away your weapon, uses potentially lethal force against you, or points a gun at you, especially when you instigate nothing.

Maybe in your weird euro land, you are restricted to 'proportional' force or having a duty to retreat, but those are dumb and benefit the aggressor.

I don't want to live in a country where if you 'provoke' violent, unstable people into attacking you through your legal actions, you have to take a beating for not having the psychic ability to foresee what might trigger them. This is what the prosecutor argued. Take a beating from the child rapist.
