Re: What movies are you watching?
I think there’s room for some nuance here. Intimacy coordination is a very new role, and there have been (and still are!) thousands of films depicting intimate situations without one, for a variety of reasons. To act like making a film without an intimacy coordinator is inherently a problem feels a bit overblown.
From what I’ve read, the filmmakers offered one, and both Madison and her co-star actively decided against it. That doesn’t mean the role isn’t valuable; it clearly is, especially for ensuring safety on set. But these are also adult professionals with agency. If they felt comfortable and had open communication about how they wanted to approach the scenes, I don’t see why that should be controversial.

Feels like y'all care more and are making a bigger deal out of this at l than me.
Either way, Anora is a totally okay movie.

I think if I was an intimacy coordinator - if someone asked what I did for a job - I'd lie.

Oh boy... I didn't mean to piss you off, Jorge. I thought we were having a friendly chat. My apologies.
I appreciate your feedback and participation. I wouldn't really call my posts an argument per se, just stating a preference, but I hear what you're saying and you're right. They are adults with agency and it shouldn't be controversial.
But I do think there are plenty of times when people aren't as comfortable as they say they are. Sometimes people don't tell the truth or act tough or whatever (not ideal phrasing, but hopefully you get what I mean) and I think moving forward it would be great if the unions involved required the position. At least, I think so. But hey! I'm not out there making movies, so what do I know?

Another thing to have in consideration : Sean Baker’s movies are truly independent. He works with very small crews and with a huge sense of intimacy for everyone involved , specially actors; whom in most of his films are not trained actors. Anora is actually his biggest production to date.epilogue wrote:Oh boy... I didn't mean to piss you off, Jorge. I thought we were having a friendly chat. My apologies.

I honestly hope he can continue to film this way. His way.

The Professor and the Madman
Pretty silly movie, but Gibson and Penn are good I think. It's so comically Hollywood though. Like a movie you'd see in another movie.
