LOL @popovich's comments on 3 pointers.
"I'll never embrace it. I don't think it's basketball. I think it's kind of like a circus sort of thing. Why don't we have a 5-point shot? A 7-point shot? You know, where does it stop, that sort of thing."

Thats a very Barkley esque thing for the best coach in the league to be saying. Is part of him saying that sour grapes over knowing nobody can check the warriors in a four game series this season? I miss the 90's nba too but thin feminine looking men chucking threes is just the reality now.

People are leaving out the other part of that Pop quote.
"To a certain degree, you better embrace it or you're going to lose. And every time we've won a championship, the 3-point shot was a big part of it. Because it is so powerful and you've gotta be able to do it. And nobody does it better than Golden State, and you know where they're at. So it's important. You can't ignore it."

I must admit, that I personally liked the Bowen-era Spurs better than their pass-happy teams of recent years. My favorite Finals was the 2005 Spurs/Pistons, that many people considered unwatchable. But I grew up with those dirty Lakers-Celtics finals and the Bad Boys Pistons. I also really enjoyed watching those Nash-led Suns teams cruise in the regular season, but then get roughed up and bounced out of the playoffs.
That being said, Golden State is fun as hell to watch.

I don't think it's that hard to understand, when you consider the Spurs had to fight that "soft/nice guy" label for years.

Now I feel better. Pop rules. He knows this shit is whack compared to 90s but needs to do it anyway.

I'd take a pass happy attack over a slow developing post up or ISO any day.

Passing isnt the problem. Nerds shooting threes is what pop and I are talking about.

If by some small miracle Washington and Chicago play in the playoffs, I may just come up. My wife has been wanting to do a weekend in Chicago to see an aunt she has there.

I go to Chicago about once a year to visit friends. I would love the opportunity cheer on every 3 pointer made at a Bulls game with Verb.
