I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It does not. Which may be the one change Denis got right.

MacGruber is meant to be sincerely enjoyed, without affectation.

Finally got to watch Parthenope last week.
For a movie about the passage of time and memories, the one thing you come out learning is that Italians talk really fast.
Will definitely re-watch because there's a whopping amount of eye candy you miss while reading subtitles.

2010: The Year We Make Contact

Dang, Roy Scheider's wife in this (Madolyn Smith Osborne) is super hot. Wonder why she never became a star.

I saw Mulholland Drive at the local cinema today and I have nothing to say about the film that hasn't been said a thousand times before, but I will share three interactions I overheard on the way out of the theatre.

1. As soon as the movie ended, a male voice a little behind me said quietly "I don't think I get it".

2. In the lobby, a woman standing in line for concessions says loudly to her companion "I don't think I know what that movie is." Then loudly announced to the crowd ambling out of the movie in her direction "What is Mulholland Drive about?". A truly funny question

3. The two young women in front of me walking to the parking lot, one of whom was wearing a green "Fleet Foxes" baseball cap. "I'll be honest, I couldn't follow it at all. At a certain point, I was just all vibes."

Oh, and 4, mid-movie, in the scene right after the dimension-shift-dream-end-reality-change whatever where there is a bunch of jump cuts and linearity of emotion and costume and motivation is all getting jumbled around, someone behind me said "What is going on?" quite exasperatedly

I think all four of these moments were rather charming. And I certainly didn't understand that movie the first time I saw it and before I read interpretations, so I'm certainly not judging any of these folks. I like them all

I think I got the gist of it the first time, but not the specifics.
