If there's one thing we do know it's that tech company oligarchs definitely don't collude to coordinate mass bannings and alternative social media shutdowns. I'm sure Jack Dorsey woke up in a state of shock the day Parler was shut down.

You would be amazed at the level of coordination the hive mind grants us for arranging your persecution.

There's one rule for the west and basically no rules for everyone else.

I get it, Belarussian dissident is not a protected group (and Lukashenko has legit balls of steel).

Nigerian Government banned twitter over a week ago after twitter deleted a post by the president threatening a repeat of the Biafran war.

It seems that twitter has an outsized view of themselves if they think they can single handedly prevent civil war or ethnic pogroms. Any real civil wars will be touched off on military frequencies and any Rwanda 2.0s will be on Telegram or Snapchat or whatever the new hotness is that has no moderation.

This sort of scenario occured not long ago in Tigray in Ethiopia. Did the Ethiopian and Eritrian armed forces involved rely on Twitter to organize their offensives?

Also, I must inquire as to twitters Cameroon policy. Who knows what inflammatory French messages regarding the anglophone minority go out every day with limited moderation because they don't care.

Damn, I forgot the most important part of the Nigerian twitter ban: anglophone Africa twitter is amazing and the loss of Nigeria is significant. Excellent shitposters, and in general far more scrutable than Indian twitter.

Africa and the rest of anglo world have no time for this crore business, just use metric prefixes like everyone else that hasn't sent people to moon.

New terms to me in anglo Africa twitter: local term for security guard or soldier, not hard to pick up in context.

This isn't even a failure of social media.

Eh, not sure about that.

Maybe more like people promoting the Atkin's diet getting banned for not following FDA guidelines on 9-11 servings of grains a day. The Atkins diet may not be ideal for everyone, but the FDA guidance was pretty terrible.

Banning 1/6 Q-anon types is not really what the above was complaining about.
