I mean that tonally, thematically, they're all over the place. As for the broad story, they hold together but they're just mostly unbearable. OK, I'll shut up now.

Tonally they're remarkably cohesive. Aesthetically, too. Not sure about "thematically" but I'm gonna say the variances are pretty tame and nothing out of the ordinary for superhero movies.

There's a lot you can criticize about the MCU. Cohesiveness ain't it. These movies are cohesive to a fault.

Or, more precisely, you can criticize them for being too cohesive. It's frustrating when so many filmmakers default to the Marvel house style, probably my biggest gripe with the series.

What I meant is, not sure what the word is for it, I guess... one moment it's going for romantic, sweet, then the next second it's trying to be hilarious (but I never find it slightly funny, maybe that's my problem), then it's super action packed WOW, then it's romantic again... constant whiplash from one mood to the next.. doesn't feel like a cohesive thing to me

Yeah... but they all seem like they do this... I guess it's been a while since I watched Winter Soldier, cause I remember enjoying that one quite a bit... And some of the early Iron Men... Maybe it's just the newer ones that've been doing this or maybe I've changed in how I watch these

I don't think I'm trolling.

I'm just sitting here at work, flipping through RM and this is a very active topic. I'm interested in the amount of interest in this movie. Just chiming in with my opinion from time to time. Sorry if it bothers you but I don't think there are rules against that. If you would just ignore me I'd probably just stop posting. I spend more time defending myself than anything. I'm allowed to have an opinion, too.
